Minoxidil powder is the first drug approved for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (hair loss). Prior to this, minoxidil has been used as a vasodilator prescribed in oral tablets to treat high blood pressure, and its side effects include hair growth and male hair loss.

Minoxidil powder is a vasodilator known for its ability to slow or prevent hair loss and promote hair regrowth. In addition to other hair loss therapies, it can be used to treat androgenetic alopecia, but the measurable changes disappear within a few months after stopping the drug. Its effectiveness has been proven in younger men (18 to 41 years old), the younger the better, and men with baldness in the central (apex) part of the scalp. 

 

Function

1. Minoxidil powder needs to be applied once or twice daily for hair to be maintained.

It does not seem capable of reducing DHT or the enzyme responsible for its accumulation around the hair follicle, 5-alpha reductase, which are the main causes of male pattern baldness in genetically susceptible individuals.
