Product Description
Zinc stearate is a white light fine powder. Molecular formula ZN(C17H35COO)2, molecular structure RCOOZnOOCR (R is a mixed alkyl group in industrial stearic acid), combustible, specific gravity 1.095, spontaneous ignition point 900°C, density 1.095, melting point 130°C, with a slippery feel. It is insoluble in water, ethanol, ether, but soluble in organic solvents and acids such as hot ethanol, turpentine, and benzene.
Zinc stearate is heated and dissolved in an organic solvent and becomes a jelly when cold, and decomposes into stearic acid and corresponding zinc salt when it encounters strong acid. It is lubricating, hygroscopic, non-toxic, slightly irritating, non-polluting, and non-hazardous.
Function & Application
1. It is used in the processing of PVC non-toxic products, and has a synergistic effect with calcium stearate and barium stearate, which can effectively improve the light stability of PVC products;
2. It is used as a rubber compound as well as in the manufacture of PP, PE, PS, EPS polymer additives, and pencil lead.
3. Zinc stearate is widely used in the pharmaceutical field, and its hydrophobicity can effectively prevent tablets from getting wet.
